حديث جعفر بن أبي طالب (1) رضي الله عنه وهو حديث الهجرة
Hadith 19:0
Ja’far ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We went out to the land of Abyssinia, and the Negus received us with the best reception. We stayed with him in the best of dwellings, in the best of neighborhoods, and we did not fear any injustice or harm regarding our religion. When the Quraish heard of this, they gathered to send two men to the Negus against us, and they gathered gifts for the Negus from what he liked of the goods of the Hijaz. They gathered many of them, then they sent Abdullah ibn Abi Rabi’ah and ‘Amr ibn al-‘As. They did not leave any of the patriarchs of the Negus without giving them a gift before they spoke to the Negus. They said to every patriarch: "A group of our foolish youths has entered his land, having abandoned the religion of their people, and they have not entered your religion, but have brought a newly invented religion that neither we nor you know." So, when they entered upon the Negus and presented the gifts to him, he accepted them. Then they spoke to him and said: "O King, a group of our foolish youths has taken refuge in your land, having abandoned the religion of their people, and they have not entered your religion, but have brought a newly invented religion that neither we nor you know." The Negus said: "What is this religion that you have entered, abandoning the religion of your people, and not entering my religion, nor any other religion?" Ja’far said: "O King, we were a people of ignorance (Jahiliyyah), worshipping idols, eating dead meat, committing immoralities, severing ties of kinship, mistreating neighbors, and the strong among us would devour the weak. We were in that state until Allah sent to us a Messenger from among us, whose lineage, truthfulness, trustworthiness, and chastity we know. He called us to Allah, to single Him out and worship Him, and to abandon what we and our fathers used to worship besides Him of stones and idols. He commanded us to speak the truth, to fulfill trusts, to maintain ties of kinship, to treat neighbors well, and to refrain from forbidden things and bloodshed. He forbade us from immoralities, false speech, consuming the wealth of orphans, and slandering chaste women. He commanded us to worship Allah alone, not associating anything with Him, and he commanded us to pray, give charity, and fast." Ja’far said: "So we believed in him and followed him in what he brought from Allah, and we worshipped Allah alone, not associating anything with Him. We declared forbidden what he forbade for us, and we declared lawful what he made lawful for us. Because of this, our people transgressed against us, tortured us, and tried to force us away from our religion so that we would return to the worship of idols instead of the worship of Allah, and to permit the evil things we used to permit. When they oppressed us, treated us unjustly, and made life difficult for us, and stood between us and our religion, we came to your land, choosing you over others. We desired your neighborhood, and we hoped that we would not be treated unjustly while with you, O King." The Negus said: "Do you have anything of what he brought from Allah?" Ja’far said to him: "Yes." The Negus said: "Read it to me." So he recited to him: "Kaf Ha Ya ‘Ayn Sad." The Negus wept until his beard became wet, and the patriarchs wept until their scrolls became wet when they heard what he recited to them. Then the Negus said: "Indeed, this and what ‘Isa brought come from the same niche. Go, for by Allah, I will never hand them over to you, nor will they be betrayed."
