Musnad Ahmad 770:25

And from the Hadith of Jarir ibn Abdullah (RA), from the Prophet (SAW)

Hadith 770:25

Ishaq ibn Yusuf narrated to us, Abu Janab narrated to us, from Zadhan, from Jarir ibn Abdullah, who said: We went out with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. When we had emerged from Medina, there was a rider hastening toward us. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "It is as if this rider intends [to reach] you." He said: The man reached us and greeted us, and we returned the greeting to him. The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said to him: "From where have you come?" He said: From my family, my children, and my clan. He said: "And where do you intend to go?" He said: I intend to reach the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. He said: "Then you have found him." He said: O Messenger of Allah, teach me what is faith? He said: "You testify that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and you establish the prayer, and you give the zakat, and you fast Ramadan, and you perform the pilgrimage to the House." He said: I have affirmed [this]. He said: Then his camel’s leg went into a jerboa burrow, so his camel stumbled and the man stumbled, and he fell upon his head and died. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Bring the man to me." He said: Ammar ibn Yasir and Hudhayfah leaped toward him and sat him up, and they said: O Messenger of Allah, the man has passed away. He said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, turned away from them. Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said to them: "Did you not see me turning away from the man? For I saw two angels stuffing into his mouth from the fruits of Paradise, and I knew that he had died hungry." Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "By Allah, this is one of those about whom Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, said: {Those who believe and do not mix their belief with injustice, those will have security, and they are [rightly] guided} [Al-An'am: 82]." He said: Then he said: "Take your brother." He said: So we carried him to the water, and we washed him, applied embalming fragrance to him, shrouded him, and carried him to the grave. He said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, came and sat at the edge of the grave. He said: "Make a *lahd* (a niche in the side of the grave) and do not make a *shaqq* (a trench in the center), for the *lahd* is for us, and the *shaqq* is for others."
