Musnad Ahmad 770:51

Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, Al-A'mash narrated to us, from Muslim—meaning Ibn Sabih—from Abd al-Rahman ibn Hilal al-'Absi, from Jarir ibn Abdullah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) delivered a sermon to us and encouraged us to give charity. The people were slow [to respond], until anger was seen on his face. He said once: "Until it became apparent." Then, a man from the Ansar came with a pouch and gave it to him. Then the people followed suit, and they gave until joy was seen on his face. He said: "Whoever initiates a good practice, he shall have its reward and the like of the reward of those who act upon it, without their rewards being diminished in the slightest. And whoever initiates a bad practice, he shall bear its burden and the like of the burden of those who act upon it, without their burdens being diminished in the slightest." He said once—meaning Abu Mu'awiyah—"without their burdens being diminished."
