Hadith 429:55
Muhammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us, he said: Shu‘bah narrated to us, he said: I heard Abu Ishaq narrating that he heard Sulayman ibn Surad narrating from Jubayr ibn Mut‘im, from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, that the ritual bath (ghusl) from sexual impurity (janabah) was mentioned in his presence, so he said: "As for me, I pour three [handfuls of water] over my head."
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر، قال: حدثنا شعبة، قال: سمعت أبا إسحاق، يحدث أنه سمع سليمان بن صرد، يحدث، عن جبير بن مطعم، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أنه ذكر عنده الغسل من الجنابة فقال: " أما أنا فأفرغ على رأسي ثلاثا "
