Hadith 681:11
Waki’ narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from al-Aswad ibn Qays, who said: I heard Jundub al-’Alaqi narrating: "That Gabriel was delayed in coming to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, so he became distressed." He said: So it was said to him. He said: Then it was revealed: {By the morning brightness, and by the night when it covers with darkness, your Lord has not taken leave of you, nor has He detested [you]}.
حدثنا وكيع، حدثنا سفيان، عن الأسود بن قيس، قال: سمعت جندبا العلقي يحدث، " أن جبريل أبطأ على النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فجزع ". قال: فقيل له: قال: فنزلت: {والضحى والليل إذا سجى ما ودعك ربك وما قلى} [الضحى: 2]
