Hadith 865:0
Narrated to us by Yahya ibn Sa’id, from Shu’bah, who said: Narrated to us Qatadah, from Abu al-Maliḥ, from Jurmuz al-Hujaymi, who said: I entered upon the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, advise me." He said: "Do not revile anyone." He said: So I did not revile a free person, nor a slave, nor a camel, nor a sheep after that. He said: "And do not belittle any good deed, even if it is that you pour from your bucket into the vessel of the one who asks for water, or that you speak to your brother while your face is bright toward him. And raise your lower garment to the middle of the shin; if you refuse, then to the ankles. And beware of trailing the lower garment, for it is from arrogance, and Allah does not love arrogance. And if a man reviles you and shames you for something he knows about you, do not shame him for something you know about him, for the burden of it will be upon him."
