Hadith 1227:1
Sufyan narrated to us, from ‘Amr, from al-Zuhri, from Ibn Ka‘b ibn Malik, from his father, attributing it to the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), meaning: "The souls of the martyrs are in green birds that feed upon the fruits of Paradise." And it was read to Sufyan: "A soul that feeds upon the fruit or the trees of Paradise."
حدثنا سفيان، عن عمرو، عن الزهري، عن ابن كعب بن مالك، عن أبيه، يبلغ به النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، يعني: " أن أرواح الشهداء في طائر خضر تعلق من ثمر الجنة "، وقرئ على سفيان: " نسمة تعلق في ثمرة أو شجر الجنة "
