Hadith 625:27
'Abdah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, Mis'ar informed us, from al-Hakam, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla, from Ka'b ibn 'Ujrah, that a man asked the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and said: "O Messenger of Allah, we have already learned how to greet you (saying *salam*), so how is the prayer (sending blessings) upon you?" He said: So he taught him to say: "O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent prayers upon the family of Ibrahim; indeed, You are Praiseworthy, Glorious. And bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You blessed the family of Ibrahim; indeed, You are Praiseworthy, Glorious."
حدثنا عبدة بن سليمان، أخبرنا مسعر، عن الحكم، عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي ليلى، عن كعب بن عجرة، أن رجلا سأل النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقال: يا رسول الله، إنا قد علمنا السلام عليك، فكيف الصلاة؟ قال: فعلمه أن يقول: " اللهم صل على محمد، وعلى آل محمد، كما صليت على آل إبراهيم إنك حميد مجيد، وبارك على محمد، وعلى آل محمد كما باركت على آل إبراهيم إنك حميد مجيد "
