Hadith 625:9
Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Asbahani, from 'Abdullah ibn Ma'qil, who said: I sat with Ka'b ibn 'Ujrah while he was in the mosque, and I asked him about this verse: "Then a ransom of fasting or charity or sacrifice" [Al-Baqarah: 196]. Ka'b said: It was revealed regarding me. I had an ailment in my head, and I was carried to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, while lice were falling onto my face. He said: "I did not think that the hardship had reached the extent I see. Can you find a sheep?" I said: No. Then this verse was revealed: "Then a ransom of fasting or charity or sacrifice" [Al-Baqarah: 196]. He said: "Fast three days, or feed six poor persons, half a sa' of food for each poor person." He said: It was revealed specifically regarding me, but it is general for all of you.
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر، حدثنا شعبة، عن عبد الرحمن بن الأصبهاني، عن عبد الله بن معقل، قال: قعدت إلى كعب بن عجرة، وهو في المسجد، فسألته عن هذه الآية: {ففدية من صيام أو صدقة أو نسك} [البقرة: 196] ، قال: فقال كعب: نزلت في كان بي أذى من رأسي، فحملت إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، والقمل يتناثر على وجهي، فقال: " ما كنت أرى أن الجهد بلغ بك ما أرى، أتجد شاة؟ " فقلت: لا، فنزلت هذه الآية {ففدية من صيام أو صدقة أو نسك} [البقرة: 196] ، قال: " صوم ثلاثة أيام، أو إطعام ستة مساكين، نصف صاع نصف صاع طعام لكل مسكين " قال: فنزلت في خاصة، وهي لكم عامة
