Musnad Ahmad 432:1

Ya'qub ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, he said: My father informed us, from Salih ibn Kaysan, and Ibn Shihab narrated from Abu Umamah ibn Sahl, from Ibn Abbas, that he informed him that Khalid ibn al-Walid informed him that he entered with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, upon Maymunah bint al-Harith—and she was his maternal aunt. She presented to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, the meat of a dabb (lizard) which Umm Hufayd bint al-Harith had brought from Najd, and she was married to a man from Banu Ja'far. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, would not eat anything until he knew what it was. Some of the women said: "Will you not inform the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, of what he is eating?" So they informed him that it was the meat of a dabb. He refrained from it. Khalid said: "I asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, 'Is it forbidden?' He said: 'No, but it is a food that is not among my people, so I find that I dislike it.'" Khalid said: "So I pulled it toward me and ate it, while the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was looking." Ibn Shihab said: And al-Asamm—meaning Yazid ibn al-Asamm—narrated it from Maymunah, and he was under her care.
