Musnad Ahmad 944:3

Muhammad ibn Ja'far and Ibn Mahdi narrated to us, they said: Shu'bah narrated to us, from al-Hakam and Hammad, from Ibrahim, from Abu 'Abdullah al-Jadali, from Khuzaymah ibn Thabit, from the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, that he said regarding wiping over the leather socks (khuffayn): "A day and a night for the resident, and three days and their nights for the traveler."
