Hadith of Kisan (RA)

حديث كيسان

Hadith 707:0

Narrated to us by Muhammad ibn Ja’far, who said: Narrated to us Shu’bah, from Qatadah, from Anas ibn Malik, that a man from the people of the desert—who was called Kaysan—used to bring gifts to the Prophet (ﷺ) from the desert. The Prophet (ﷺ) would provide him with supplies from the world when he wanted to depart. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Kaysan is our desert dweller, and we are his city dwellers." He (the Prophet) used to love him, and he was a man of good appearance. The Prophet (ﷺ) came to him one day while he was selling his goods, so the Prophet (ﷺ) approached him from behind and embraced him, such that he could not see who it was. He said: "Let me go! Who is this?" He turned around and recognized the Prophet (ﷺ), so he began to press his back against the chest of the Prophet (ﷺ) when he realized who it was. The Prophet (ﷺ) began to say: "Who will buy this slave?" He said: "O Messenger of Allah, by Allah, you will find me unsellable." The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "But in the sight of Allah, you are not unsellable," or he said: "You are valuable to Allah."
