Hadith 556:1
Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj, who said: Isma'il ibn Kathir narrated to me, from 'Asim ibn Laqit, from his father, the delegate of Banu al-Muntafiq—and 'Abd al-Razzaq said: Ibn al-Muntafiq—that he and a companion of his set out to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, but they did not find him. So 'Aisha fed them dates and *‘asida* (a porridge). We had not waited long when the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, came, walking with a firm gait, swaying. He said: "Did you feed them?" We said: "Yes." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, I ask you about prayer?" He said: "Perform the ablution thoroughly, interlace the fingers, and when you inhale water into the nose, do so thoroughly, unless you are fasting." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have a wife," and I mentioned her foul-tonguedness. He said: "Divorce her." I said: "She has companionship and a child." He said: "Command her," or he said: "Say to her: 'If there is any good in her, she will do it,' and do not strike your wife as you strike your slave-girl." While he was like that, the shepherd drove the sheep into the pen, and in his hand was a lamb. He said: "Did she give birth?" He said: "Yes." He said: "What?" He said: "A female lamb." He said: "Slaughter a sheep in its place." Then he turned to me and said: "Do not think"—and he did not say: "Let him not think"—"that we only slaughtered it for your sake. We have one hundred sheep, and we do not like for them to increase beyond that. So when the shepherd gives birth to a lamb, we command him and he slaughters a sheep in its place."
حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد، عن ابن جريج، قال: حدثني إسماعيل بن كثير، عن عاصم بن لقيط، عن أبيه وافد بني المنتفق ، وقال: عبد الرزاق: ابن المنتفق، أنه انطلق هو وصاحب له إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فلم يجداه فأطعمتهما عائشة تمرا، وعصيدة، فلم نلبث أن جاء النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يتقلع يتكفأ، فقال: " أطعمتهما؟ " قلنا: نعم قلت: يا رسول الله، أسألك عن الصلاة؟ قال: " أسبغ الوضوء، وخلل الأصابع، وإذا استنشقت فأبلغ، إلا أن تكون صائما " قلت: يا رسول الله، إن لي امرأة، فذكر من بذائها ، قال: " طلقها " قلت: إن لها صحبة وولدا، قال: " مرها، أو قل لها: " فإن يكن فيها خير فستفعل، ولا تضرب ظعينتك ضربك أميتك " فبينا هو كذلك، إذ دفع الراعي الغنم في المراح على يده سخلة، فقال: " أولدت؟ " قال: نعم، قال: " ماذا؟ " قال بهمة، قال: " اذبح مكانها شاة " ثم أقبل علي، فقال: لا تحسبن، - ولم يقل، لا يحسبن - أنما ذبحناها من أجلك، لنا غنم مائة، لا نحب أن تزيد عليها، فإذا ولد الراعي بهمة، أمرنا فذبح مكانها شاة "
