Musnad Ahmad 1067:2

Yahya ibn Zakariya ibn Abi Za'idah narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq informed me, from 'Asim ibn 'Umar ibn Qatadah, from Mahmud ibn Labid, he said: The swords of the Muslims clashed upon al-Yaman, the father of Hudhayfah, on the day of Uhud, and they did not recognize him, so they killed him. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, intended to pay his blood money, so Hudhayfah gave his blood money as charity to the Muslims.
