Musnad Ahmad 1067:4

Sulayman ibn Dawud narrated to us, Isma'il ibn Ja'far informed us, 'Amr informed me, from 'Asim, from Mahmud ibn Labid, that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "If Allah loves a people, He tries them. So whoever is patient, for him is patience, and whoever is distraught, for him is distraught."
