Hadith 683:4
'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us, from Sufyan, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Abis, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla, who said: A man from the companions of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, narrated to me that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, forbade cupping and continuous fasting (wisal), but he did not declare them unlawful, out of consideration for his companions. It was said: "O Messenger of Allah, you practice continuous fasting until the pre-dawn time (sahar)." He said: "If I practice continuous fasting until the pre-dawn time, my Lord feeds me and gives me drink."
حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن مهدي، عن سفيان، عن عبد الرحمن بن عابس، عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي ليلى، قال: حدثني رجل، من أصحاب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم نهى عن الحجامة، والمواصلة، ولم يحرمها إبقاء على أصحابه، فقيل: يا رسول الله، إنك تواصل إلى السحر، فقال: " إن أواصل إلى السحر، فربي يطعمني ويسقيني "
