Hadith of a Man

Hadith 832:1

Rawh narrated to us, Awf narrated to us, from Alqamah ibn Abdullah al-Muzani, who said: A man narrated to me, saying: I was in a gathering in which Umar ibn al-Khattab was present in Medina. Umar said to a man from those sitting with him: "How did you hear the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say?" He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say: "Indeed, Islam began as a *jadha'* (a young camel), then a *thani* (a two-year-old), then a *ruba'i* (a four-year-old), then a *sudais* (a six-year-old), then a *bazil* (a fully mature camel)." He said: Umar then said: "And there is nothing after maturity except decline."
