Hadith 900:1
Muhammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us, Shu‘bah narrated to us, from Khalid, who said: I heard Abu Qilabah narrating from Muhammad ibn Abi ‘Aishah, from a man among the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do you recite while the Imam is reciting?" Or he said: "Do you recite behind the Imam while the Imam is reciting?" They said: "Yes." He said: "Do not do so, except that one of you recites the Opening of the Book (Fatihat al-Kitab) to himself." If he wills. Khalid said: He narrated it to me later and did not say: "If he wills." So I said to Abu Qilabah: "If he wills?" He said: "I do not remember it."
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر، حدثنا شعبة، عن خالد، قال: سمعت أبا قلابة، يحدث عن محمد بن أبي عائشة، عن رجل من أصحاب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم " أتقرءون والإمام يقرأ؟ "، أو قال: تقرءون خلف الإمام، والإمام يقرأ؟، قالوا: " نعم، قال: " فلا تفعلوا، إلا أن يقرأ أحدكم فاتحة الكتاب في نفسه " إن شاء قال خالد: وحدثني بعد ولم يقل: إن شاء، فقلت لأبي قلابة: إن شاء، قال: لا أذكره "
