Hadith 977:1
Ali ibn 'Asim narrated to us, Husayn narrated to us, from Salim ibn Abi al-Ja'd, from a man of his people, who said: I entered upon the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, while I was wearing a gold ring. He took a palm branch and struck my hand with it, and said: "Cast it away." He said: So I went out and cast it away. Then I returned to him, and he said: "What did you do with the ring?" I said: I cast it away. He said: "I only commanded you to make use of it, and not to cast it away."
حدثنا علي بن عاصم، حدثنا حصين، عن سالم بن أبي الجعد، عن رجل، من قومه قال: دخلت على النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وعلي خاتم من ذهب، فأخذ جريدة فضرب بها كفي وقال: " اطرحه ". قال: فخرجت فطرحته، ثم عدت إليه فقال: " ما فعل الخاتم؟ " قال: قلت: طرحته. قال: " إنما أمرتك أن تستمتع به ولا تطرحه "
