Hadith 1021:5
Abu al-Nadr narrated to us, al-Hakam ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from Khalid al-Hadhdha’, from Abu Tamimah, from a man of his people, that he came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)—or he said: I witnessed the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)—and a man came to him and said: "Are you the Messenger of Allah?" or he said: "Are you Muhammad?" He said: "Yes." He said: "To what do you call?" He said: "I call to Allah alone; the One who, if you are afflicted with harm and you call upon Him, He removes it from you; and the One who, if a year of drought befalls you and you call upon Him, He causes [crops] to grow for you; and the One who, if you are in a desolate land and you lose your way and you call upon Him, He restores it to you." He said: So the man accepted Islam. Then he said: "Advise me, O Messenger of Allah." He said to him: "Do not insult anything"—or he said: "anyone"—(al-Hakam was uncertain). He said: So I have not insulted anything, neither a camel nor a sheep, since the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) advised me. "And do not belittle any good deed, even if it is by smiling at your brother while you are speaking to him, and by pouring from your bucket into the vessel of the one seeking water. And wear your lower garment to the middle of the calf; if you refuse, then to the ankles. And beware of letting the lower garment hang low, for it is of arrogance, and Allah does not love arrogance."
حدثنا أبو النضر، حدثنا الحكم بن فصيل، عن خالد الحذاء، عن أبي تميمة، عن رجل من قومه، أنه أتى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أو قال: شهدت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وأتاه رجل فقال أنت رسول الله؟ أو قال: أنت محمد ؟ فقال: " نعم "، قال: فإلام تدعو؟ قال: " أدعو إلى الله وحده، من إذا كان بك ضر فدعوته كشفه عنك، ومن إذا أصابك عام سنة فدعوته أنبت لك، ومن إذا كنت في أرض قفر فأضللت فدعوته رد عليك "، قال: فأسلم الرجل، ثم قال: أوصني يا رسول الله؟ فقال له: " لا تسبن شيئا " أو قال أحدا: شك الحكم قال: فما سببت شيئا بعيرا، ولا شاة منذ أوصاني رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، " ولا تزهد في المعروف، ولو ببسط وجهك إلى أخيك وأنت تكلمه، وأفرغ من دلوك في إناء المستسقي، واتزر إلى نصف الساق، فإن أبيت فإلى الكعبين، وإياك وإسبال الإزار فإنها من المخيلة، والله لا يحب المخيلة "
