Hadith 206:1
'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, from Sufyan, from 'Ata'—meaning Ibn al-Sa'ib—from a man from Bakr ibn Wa'il, from his maternal uncle, who said: I said, "O Messenger of Allah, should I collect the 'ushr (tithe) from my people?" He said, "The 'ushr is only upon the Jews and the Christians, and there is no 'ushr upon the people of Islam."
حدثنا عبد الرحمن، عن سفيان، عن عطاء يعني ابن السائب، عن رجل، من بكر بن وائل، عن خاله، قال: قلت: يا رسول الله أعشر قومي؟ قال: " إنما العشور على اليهود، والنصارى وليس على أهل الإسلام عشور " . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
