Hadith of a man from the Ansar, the companion of the Prophet’s (SAW) sacrificial animal

حديث رجل من الأنصار صاحب بدن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم

Hadith 365:1

Abu al-Nadr narrated to us, he said: Abu Mu’awiyah—meaning Shayban—narrated to us, from Layth, from Shahr, he said: The Ansari, the owner of the Prophet’s (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sacrificial animals, narrated to me that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent him, he said: "Return." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, what do you command me to do with those of them that are dying?" He said: "Slaughter it, then dip its sandal in its blood, then place it on its side or on its flank, and do not eat from it, neither you nor anyone from the people of your company."

حدثنا أبو النضر، قال: حدثنا أبو معاوية يعني شيبان، عن ليث، عن شهر قال: حدثني الأنصاري صاحب بدن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم لما بعثه قال: " رجعت " ، فقلت: يا رسول الله، ما تأمرني بما عطب منها؟، قال: " انحرها ثم اصبغ نعلها في دمها، ثم ضعها على صفحتها أو على جنبها ، ولا تأكل منها أنت ولا أحد من أهل رفقتك "
