Musnad Ahmad 99:1

Husayn ibn Muhammad narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Mutarrif informed us, from Zayd ibn Aslam, from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Baylamani, who said: Four of the companions of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) gathered. One of them said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) say: 'Indeed, Allah accepts the repentance of the servant before he dies by a day.'" The second said: "Did you hear this from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace)?" He said: "Yes." He said: "And I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) say: 'Indeed, Allah accepts the repentance of the servant before he dies by half a day.'" The third said: "Did you hear this from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace)?" He said: "Yes." He said: "And I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) say: 'Indeed, Allah accepts the repentance of the servant before he dies by the forenoon.'" The fourth said: "Did you hear this from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace)?" He said: "Yes. And I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) say: 'Indeed, Allah accepts the repentance of the servant as long as he does not reach the death rattle.'"
