Hadith 672:1
Ali ibn Asim narrated to us, al-Mughirah informed us, from Shabak, from Amir, a certain man from Thaqif informed me, saying: We asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about three things, and he did not grant us a concession in any of them. We asked him to return Abu Bakrah to us, and he was a slave who had embraced Islam before us. He said: "No, he is the freedman of Allah, then the freedman of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)." Then we asked him to grant us a concession regarding the winter—and our land was a cold land—meaning regarding purification (wudu), but he did not grant us a concession. And we asked him to grant us a concession regarding the *duba* (gourd vessels), but he did not grant us a concession regarding it.
حدثنا علي بن عاصم، أخبرنا المغيرة، عن شباك، عن عامر، أخبرني فلان الثقفي قال: سألنا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عن ثلاث، فلم يرخص لنا في شيء منهن، سألناه أن يرد إلينا أبا بكرة، وكان مملوكا وأسلم قبلنا، فقال: " لا، هو طليق الله، ثم طليق رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم "، ثم سألناه أن يرخص لنا في الشتاء، وكانت أرضنا أرضا باردة، يعني في الطهور، فلم يرخص لنا، وسألناه أن يرخص لنا في الدباء، فلم يرخص لنا فيه
