Hadith of a man who was not named, from the Prophet (SAW)
Hadith 212:1
Abu Ahmad Muhammad ibn Abdullah al-Zubayri narrated to us, Sa’d—meaning Ibn Aws al-‘Absi—narrated to us, from Bilal al-‘Absi, who said: Imran ibn Husayn al-Dabbi informed us that he came to Basra while Abdullah ibn Abbas was the governor there. He found a man standing in the shade of the palace saying: "Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth, Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth," and he would not add anything to that. I drew near to him a little and said to him: "You have said 'Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth' many times." He said: "By Allah, if you wish, I will inform you." I said: "Yes." He said: "Then sit." He said: "I came to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, while he was in Medina at such and such a time. Two elders of the tribe had a son who had left and joined him. They said: 'You are going to Medina, and a son of ours has joined this man, so go to him and ask him for him. If he refuses except for a ransom, then ransom him.' So I came to Medina and entered upon the Prophet of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and said: 'O Prophet of Allah, two elders of the tribe ordered me to ask you for a son of theirs who is with you.' He said: 'Do you recognize him?' I said: 'I know his lineage.' He called for the boy, and he came. He said: 'He is here, so take him to his parents.' I said: 'The ransom, O Prophet of Allah?' He said: 'It is not fitting for us, the family of Muhammad, to consume the price of anyone from the children of Ishmael.' Then he struck my shoulder and said: 'I do not fear for Quraysh except from themselves.' I said: 'And what is the matter with them, O Prophet of Allah?' He said: 'If you live a long life, you will see them here, until you see the people between them like sheep between two watering troughs; sometimes at this one, and sometimes at that one.'" [Imran said:] So I see people asking permission to enter upon Ibn Abbas, and I saw them this year asking permission to enter upon Mu'awiyah, and I remembered what the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, had said.
