Hadith 959:0
Narrated to us by Muhammad ibn Ja’far, who said: Narrated to us Shu’bah, from Qatadah, from Matar ibn Akamis, who said: I came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, what do you say about the one who finds a lost item?" He said: "Announce it for a year. If its owner comes, then give it to him. If not, then use it, and if its owner comes after that, then pay it back to him." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, what about a lost sheep?" He said: "It is either for you, or for your brother, or for the wolf." I said: "What about a lost camel?" He said: "What do you have to do with it? It has its feet and its water-skin; it will reach the water and eat from the trees until its owner finds it."
