Musnad Ahmad 1163:19

Ya'qub ibn Ibrahim ibn Sa'd narrated to us, he said: My father narrated to me, from Salih ibn Kaysan, and Ibn Shihab narrated from Abu Umamah ibn Sahl, from Ibn Abbas, that he informed him that Khalid ibn al-Walid entered with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, upon Maymunah bint al-Harith, and she was his maternal aunt. A roasted lizard was presented to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, which Umm Hufayd bint al-Harith had brought from Najd, and she was married to a man from Banu Ja'far. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, would not eat anything until he knew what it was. Some of the women said: "Will you not inform the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, of what he is eating?" So they informed him that it was lizard meat, and he refrained from it. Khalid said: "I asked the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, 'Is it forbidden?' He said: 'No, but it is food that is not among my people, so I find that I dislike it.'" Khalid said: "So I pulled it toward me and ate it, while the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was looking." He said: Al-Asamm narrated it from Maymunah, and he was in her care—meaning this hadith—and I think that al-Asamm is Yazid ibn al-Asamm.
