Musnad Ahmad 1186:1

Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, he said: Abdullah ibn Yazid ibn Miqsam informed us, he said: My paternal aunt, Sarah bint Miqsam, narrated to me, from Maymunah bint Kardam, she said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in Makkah, while he was upon his she-camel, and I was with my father. In the hand of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was a whip like the whip of a teacher. I heard the Bedouins and the people saying: "The *Tabtabiyah*." My father drew near to him and took hold of his foot, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) allowed him to do so. She said: Among the things I have not forgotten is the length of his index toe over his other toes. She said: My father said to him: "I witnessed the army of 'Athran." She said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recognized that army. He said: "Tariq ibn al-Muraqqa' said: 'Who will give me a spear for its reward?' I said: 'And what is its reward?' He said: 'I will marry him to the first daughter born to me.' I gave him my spear, then I left him until a daughter was born to him and she reached maturity. I came to him and said: 'Prepare my wife for me.' He said: 'No, by Allah, I will not prepare her for you until you provide a dowry other than that.' I swore that I would not do so." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "And how is she among women?" I said: "She has seen gray hair." She said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to me: "Leave her, there is no good for you in her." She said: That frightened me, and I looked at him, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do not commit a sin, and let not your companion commit a sin." She said: My father said to him in that same place: "I vowed to slaughter a number of sheep"—I do not know but that he said: fifty sheep—"at the top of Buwanah." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Is there any of these idols upon it?" He said: "No." He said: "Then fulfill for Allah what you have vowed to Him." She said: My father gathered them and began slaughtering them, and one sheep escaped from him. He pursued it while saying: "O Allah, fulfill my vow on my behalf," until he caught it and slaughtered it.
