Musnad Ahmad 132:40

Al-Hakam ibn Nafi’ narrated to us, Isma’il ibn ‘Ayyash narrated to us, from Usayd ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Khath’ami, from Farwah ibn Mujahid al-Lakhmi, from Sahl ibn Mu’adh al-Juhani, from his father, who said: We descended upon Hisn Sinan in the land of the Byzantines with ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abd al-Malik. The people constricted the dwellings and blocked the road. Mu’adh said: O people, we went on a military expedition with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, on such and such an expedition, and the people constricted the road. The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, sent a herald, and he proclaimed: "Whoever constricts a dwelling or blocks a road, there is no Jihad for him."
