Hadith 961:102
Abu Ahmad al-Zubayri narrated to us, Musarrah ibn Ma'bad narrated to us, from Isma'il ibn 'Ubayd Allah, who said: Mu'adh ibn Jabal said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, saying: "You will migrate to Ash-Sham, and it will be conquered for you. There will be among you a disease like a boil or like the heat (of the desert), which will seize the lower part of a man's abdomen. Through it, Allah will grant them martyrdom and purify their deeds." (Mu'adh said): "O Allah, if You know that Mu'adh ibn Jabal heard it from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, then grant him and his household the most abundant share of it." So the plague afflicted them, and not one of them remained. It struck his index finger, and he used to say: "It does not please me that I have red camels in its place."
حدثنا أبو أحمد الزبيري، حدثنا مسرة بن معبد، عن إسماعيل بن عبيد الله قال: قال معاذ بن جبل: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: " ستهاجرون إلى الشام فيفتح لكم ويكون فيكم داء كالدمل أو كالحرة يأخذ بمراق الرجل يستشهد الله به أنفسهم، ويزكي به أعمالهم " اللهم إن كنت تعلم أن معاذ بن جبل سمعه من رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فأعطه هو وأهل بيته الحظ الأوفر منه، فأصابهم الطاعون فلم يبق منهم أحد فطعن في أصبعه السبابة، فكان يقول: ما يسرني أن لي بها حمر النعم
