Hadith 961:122
Abu Sa’id, the freed slave of Banu Hashim, narrated to us, Jahdam—meaning al-Yamami—narrated to us, Yahya—meaning Ibn Abi Kathir—narrated to us, Zayd—meaning Ibn Abi Salam—narrated to us, from Abu Salam—and he is Zayd ibn Salam ibn Abi Salam, who attributed him to his grandfather—that ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn ‘A’ish al-Hadrami narrated to him, from Malik ibn Yukhāmir, that Mu’adh ibn Jabal said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was detained from us one morning for the morning prayer until we almost saw the horn of the sun. Then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came out quickly, and the call to prayer was made, and he prayed, and he made his prayer brief. When he had finished the salutation, he said: "Remain as you are in your rows, remain as you are." Then he turned to us and said: "I will tell you what detained me from you this morning. I stood up at night and prayed what was destined for me, then I became drowsy in my prayer until I woke up, and there I was with my Lord in the best form. He said: 'O Muhammad, do you know what the Highest Assembly is disputing about?' I said: 'I do not know, my Lord.' He said: 'O Muhammad, what is the Highest Assembly disputing about?' I said: 'I do not know, my Lord.' He said: 'O Muhammad, what is the Highest Assembly disputing about?' I said: 'I do not know, my Lord.' Then I saw Him place His palm between my shoulder blades until I felt the coolness of His fingertips between my chest, and everything became clear to me and I knew. He said: 'O Muhammad, what is the Highest Assembly disputing about?' I said: 'About the expiations.' He said: 'And what are the expiations?' I said: 'Walking to the Friday prayers, sitting in the mosques after the prayers, and performing ablution thoroughly despite difficulties.' He said: 'And what are the degrees?' I said: 'Feeding the hungry, gentle speech, and praying while the people are asleep.' He said: 'Ask.' I said: 'O Allah, I ask You for the doing of good deeds, the abandoning of evil deeds, the love of the poor, and that You forgive me and have mercy on me. And if You intend a trial for a people, then take me to You without being tried. And I ask You for Your love, the love of those who love You, and the love of an action that brings me closer to Your love.'" And the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "It is the truth, so study it and learn it."
حدثنا أبو سعيد مولى بني هاشم، حدثنا جهضم يعني اليمامي، حدثنا يحيى يعني ابن أبي كثير، حدثنا زيد يعني ابن أبي سلام، عن أبي سلام وهو زيد بن سلام بن أبي سلام نسبه إلى جده، أنه حدثه عبد الرحمن بن عائش الحضرمي، عن مالك بن يخامر، أن معاذ بن جبل قال: احتبس علينا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ذات غداة عن صلاة الصبح حتى كدنا نتراءى قرن الشمس، فخرج رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم سريعا، فثوب بالصلاة وصلى وتجوز في صلاته فلما سلم. قال: " كما أنتم على مصافكم كما أنتم ". ثم أقبل إلينا. فقال: " إني سأحدثكم ما حبسني عنكم الغداة إني قمت من الليل، فصليت ما قدر لي فنعست في صلاتي حتى استيقظت، فإذا أنا بربي في أحسن صورة. فقال: يا محمد أتدري فيم يختصم الملأ الأعلى؟ قلت: لا أدري يا رب. قال: يا محمد فيم يختصم الملأ الأعلى؟ قلت: لا أدري رب، قال: يا محمد فيم يختصم الملأ الأعلى؟ قلت: لا أدري يا رب ، فرأيته وضع كفه بين كتفي حتى وجدت برد أنامله بين صدري فتجلى لي كل شيء وعرفت فقال: يا محمد فيم يختصم الملأ الأعلى؟ قلت: في الكفارات. قال: وما الكفارات؟ قلت: نقل الأقدام إلى الجمعات، وجلوس في المساجد بعد الصلوات، وإسباغ الوضوء عند الكريهات. قال: وما الدرجات؟ قلت: إطعام الطعام، ولين الكلام، والصلاة والناس نيام. قال: سل. قلت: اللهم إني أسألك فعل الخيرات وترك المنكرات، وحب المساكين، وأن تغفر لي وترحمني، وإذا أردت فتنة في قوم فتوفني غير مفتون، وأسألك حبك وحب من يحبك وحب عمل يقربني إلى حبك ". وقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " إنها حق فادرسوها وتعلموها "
