Hadith 961:13
Isma'il narrated to us, Yunus narrated to us, from Humayd ibn Hilal, from Hassan ibn al-Kahl, who said: I entered the congregational mosque in Basra, and I sat next to an old man with a white head and beard. He said: Mu'adh ibn Jabal narrated to me, from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, that he said: "There is no soul that dies while it testifies that there is no god but Allah, and that I am the Messenger of Allah, returning that to a certain heart, but that Allah will forgive it." I said to him: Did you hear it from Mu'adh? The people seemed to rebuke me. He said: Do not rebuke him, and do not chide him, leave him. Yes, I heard that from Mu'adh, narrating it from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. Isma'il said once: Attributing it to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. He said: I said to some of them: Who is this? They said: This is Abd al-Rahman ibn Samura.
