Hadith 961:15
Muhammad ibn Abi ‘Adi narrated to us, from al-Hajjaj—meaning Ibn Abi ‘Uthman—he said: Humayd ibn Hilal narrated to me, he said: Hassan ibn al-Kahin al-‘Adawi narrated to us, he said: I sat in a gathering in which ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Samurah was present, and I did not know him. He said: Mu’adh ibn Jabal narrated to us, he said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "There is no soul on the earth that dies, not associating anything with Allah, testifying that I am the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him—that returning to a heart that is certain—except that it is forgiven." He said: I said: "Did you hear this from Mu’adh ibn Jabal?" He said: The people rebuked me. He said: "Leave him, for he did not speak ill. Yes, I heard it from Mu’adh; he claimed that he heard it from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him."
حدثنا محمد بن أبي عدي ، عن الحجاج يعني ابن أبي عثمان، حدثني حميد بن هلال، حدثنا هصان بن الكاهن العدوي، قال: جلست مجلسا فيه عبد الرحمن بن سمرة، ولا أعرفه قال: حدثنا معاذ بن جبل، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " ما على الأرض نفس تموت لا تشرك بالله شيئا تشهد أني رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، يرجع ذاكم إلى قلب موقن، إلا غفر لها "، قال: قلت: أنت سمعت هذا من معاذ بن جبل؟ قال: فعنفني القوم، فقال: دعوه فإنه لم يسئ القول، نعم أنا سمعته من معاذ، زعم أنه سمعه من رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم،
