Hadith 961:19
Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Abu Husayn and al-Ash'ath ibn Sulaym, that they both heard al-Aswad ibn Hilal narrating from Mu'adh ibn Jabal, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O Mu'adh, do you know what is the right of Allah upon the servants?" He said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "That they should worship Allah and not associate anything with Him." He said: "Do you know what is their right upon Him if they do that?" He said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "That He should not punish them."
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر، حدثنا شعبة، عن أبي حصين، والأشعث بن سليم، أنهما سمعا الأسود بن هلال، يحدث عن معاذ بن جبل، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " يا معاذ، أتدري ما حق الله على العباد؟ " فقال: الله ورسوله أعلم. قال: " أن يعبدوا الله ولا يشركوا به شيئا " قال: " أتدري ما حقهم عليه إذا فعلوا ذلك؟ " قال: الله ورسوله أعلم. قال: " أن لا يعذبهم "
