Hadith 961:32
'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Sa'id al-Jurayri, from Abu al-Ward—meaning Ibn Thumamah—(and in another chain) Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, al-Jurayri informed us, from Abu al-Ward ibn Thumamah, both from al-Lajlaj, from Mu'adh ibn Jabal, who said: The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, passed by a man while he was saying: "O Allah, I ask You for patience." He said: "You have asked for tribulation, so ask Allah for well-being (al-'afiyah)." He said: And he passed by a man saying: "O Possessor of Majesty and Honor (Ya Dhal-Jalali wal-Ikram)." He said: "It has been answered for you, so ask." And he passed by a man saying: "O Allah, I ask You for the completion of the blessing." He said: "O son of Adam, do you know what the completion of the blessing is?" He said: "A supplication I made, hoping for good through it." He said: "Indeed, the completion of the blessing is salvation from the Fire and entry into Paradise." My father said: "If al-Jurayri had narrated nothing but this hadith, it would have been sufficient."
حدثنا عبد الرزاق، حدثنا سفيان، عن سعيد الجريري، عن أبي الورد يعني ابن ثمامة، ح ويزيد بن هارون، أخبرنا الجريري، عن أبي الورد بن ثمامة، جميعا عن اللجلاج، عن معاذ بن جبل، قال: مر النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم برجل وهو يقول: اللهم إني أسألك الصبر. فقال: " قد سألت البلاء فسل الله العافية قال: ومر برجل يقول: يا ذا الجلال والإكرام. قال: " قد استجيب لك فسل " ومر برجل يقول: اللهم إني أسألك تمام النعمة. قال: " يا ابن آدم أتدري ما تمام النعمة؟ " قال: دعوة دعوت بها أرجو بها الخير. قال: " فإن تمام النعمة فوز من النار، ودخول الجنة " قال أبي: " لو لم يرو الجريري إلا هذا الحديث كان "
