Hadith 961:45
Rawh narrated to us, Malik narrated to us, and Ishaq—meaning Ibn Isa—narrated to me, Malik informed me, from Abu Hazim ibn Dinar, from Abu Idris al-Khawlani, who said: I entered the mosque of Damascus in Ash-Sham, and there I was with a young man with sparkling front teeth, and the people were around him; whenever they differed over something, they referred it to him and acted according to his opinion. I asked about him, and it was said: "This is Mu'adh ibn Jabal." When the next day came, I went early, and I found that he had preceded me in going early—and Ishaq said: "in the early departure"—and I found him praying. I waited for him until he finished his prayer, then I came to him from the direction of his face, greeted him, and said to him: "By Allah, I truly love you for the sake of Allah." He said: "By Allah?" I said: "By Allah." He said: "By Allah?" I said: "By Allah." He then took hold of the waist-wrapper of my garment and pulled me toward him, and said: "Rejoice, for I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say: 'Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, says: "My love is incumbent upon those who love one another for My sake, those who sit together for My sake, those who visit one another for My sake, and those who spend on one another for My sake."'"
