Musnad Ahmad 961:58

Haywah ibn Shurayh and Yazid ibn Abd Rabbih narrated to us, they said: Baqiyyah ibn al-Walid narrated to us, Bahir ibn Sa'd narrated to me, from Khalid ibn Ma'dan, from Abu Bahriyyah, from Mu'adh ibn Jabal, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was asked about the Night of Decree (Laylat al-Qadr), and he said: "It is in the last ten [nights], or the fifth [night], or the third [night]." Al-Hakam ibn Musa narrated to us, he said: Abdullah said: And Al-Hakam ibn Musa narrated it to us, Ibn 'Ayyash narrated to us, Abdullah ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Husayn narrated to us, from Shahr ibn Hawshab, from Mu'adh, from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him: "Caution will never avail against the decree, but supplication avails against what has descended and what has not descended. So, upon you is supplication, O servants of Allah."
