Hadith of Muadh ibn Jabal (RA)

Hadith 961:66

Abu al-Mughirah narrated to us, Safwan narrated to us, Rashid ibn Sa'd narrated to me, from 'Asim ibn Humayd, from Mu'adh ibn Jabal, who said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent him to Yemen, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went out with him, advising him, while Mu'adh was riding and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was walking beneath his mount. When he finished, he said: "O Mu'adh, it may be that you will not meet me after this year of mine, and perhaps you will pass by this mosque of mine and my grave." Mu'adh wept out of grief for the departure of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Then he turned and faced toward Medina and said: "Indeed, the closest of people to me are the righteous, whoever they are and wherever they are."
