Hadith of Muadh ibn Jabal (RA)

Hadith 961:8

Waki' narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Abu Sufyan, from Anas ibn Malik, who said: We came to Mu'adh ibn Jabal and said: "Narrate to us from the rare hadith of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace." He said: "Yes, I was riding behind him on a donkey." He said: "He said: 'O Mu'adh ibn Jabal.' I said: 'At your service, O Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'Do you know what is the right of Allah upon the servants?' I said: 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He said: 'Indeed, the right of Allah upon the servants is that they worship Him and do not associate anything with Him.'" He said: "Then he said: 'O Mu'adh.' I said: 'At your service, O Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'Do you know what is the right of the servants upon Allah if they do that?' He said: I said: 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He said: 'That He does not punish them.'"
