Hadith 961:92
Hashim narrated to us, Abd al-Hamid narrated to us, Shahr ibn Hawshab narrated to us, 'A'idh Allah ibn 'Abd Allah narrated to us: That Mu'adh came to them in Yemen, and a woman from Khawlan met him with her twelve sons. She had left their father in her house, the youngest of whom had a beard that had grown together. She stood up and greeted Mu'adh, while two of her sons were holding her by her upper arms. She said: "Who sent you, O man?" Mu'adh said to her: "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, sent me." The woman said: "Did the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, send you, and are you the messenger of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace? Will you not inform me, O messenger of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace?" Mu'adh said to her: "Ask me whatever you wish." She said: "Tell me, what is the right of the man over his wife?" Mu'adh said to her: "She should fear Allah as much as she is able, and she should listen and obey." She said: "I adjure you by Allah to tell me, what is the right of the man over his wife?" Mu'adh said to her: "Are you not satisfied that you listen, obey, and fear Allah?" She said: "Yes, but tell me what is the right of the man over his wife, for I have left the father of these [children] as a very old man in the house." Mu'adh said to her: "By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Mu'adh, if you were to return when you go back to him, and you found that leprosy had torn his flesh and torn his nostrils, and you found his nostrils flowing with pus and blood, then you put your mouth to them [to clean them], you would still not have fulfilled his right, not ever."
حدثنا هاشم، حدثنا عبد الحميد، حدثنا شهر بن حوشب، حدثنا عائذ الله بن عبد الله: أن معاذا قدم عليهم اليمن فلقيته امرأة من خولان معها بنون لها اثنا عشر، فتركت أباهم في بيتها أصغرهم الذي قد اجتمعت لحيته، فقامت فسلمت على معاذ ورجلان من بنيها يمسكان بضبعيها فقالت: من أرسلك أيها الرجل؟ قال لها معاذ: أرسلني رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم. قالت المرأة: أرسلك رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وأنت رسول رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ؟ أفلا تخبرني يا رسول رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم؟ فقال لها معاذ: " سليني عما شئت ". قالت: حدثني ما حق المرء على زوجته؟ قال لها معاذ: " تتقي الله ما استطاعت وتسمع وتطيع ". قالت: أقسمت بالله عليك لتحدثني ما حق الرجل على زوجته؟ قال لها معاذ: " أو ما رضيت أن تسمعي وتطيعي وتتقي الله؟ " قالت: بلى. ولكن حدثني ما حق المرء على زوجته؛ فإني تركت أبا هؤلاء شيخا كبيرا في البيت؟ فقال لها معاذ: " والذي نفس معاذ في يده لو أنك ترجعين إذا رجعت إليه، فوجدت الجذام قد خرق لحمه، وخرق منخريه فوجدت منخريه يسيلان قيحا ودما، ثم ألقمتيهما فاك لكي ما تبلغي حقه ما بلغت ذلك أبدا "
