Hadith 961:93
Hujayn ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, Abd al-Aziz—meaning Ibn Abi Salamah—narrated to us, from Ziyad ibn Abi Ziyad, the freed slave of Abdullah ibn Ayyash ibn Abi Rabiah, that it reached him from Mu’adh ibn Jabal that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "No son of Adam has ever performed a deed that is more saving for him from the punishment of Allah than the remembrance of Allah." And Mu’adh said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Shall I not inform you of the best of your deeds, the purest of them before your King, the highest of them in your ranks, and what is better for you than giving gold and silver, and better than that you meet your enemy tomorrow and strike their necks and they strike your necks?" They said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "The remembrance of Allah."
حدثنا حجين بن المثنى، حدثنا عبد العزيز يعني ابن أبي سلمة، عن زياد بن أبي زياد، مولى عبد الله بن عياش بن أبي ربيعة، أنه بلغه عن معاذ بن جبل أنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " ما عمل آدمي عملا قط أنجى له من عذاب الله من ذكر الله " وقال معاذ: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " ألا أخبركم بخير أعمالكم وأزكاها عند مليككم وأرفعها في درجاتكم؟ وخير لكم من تعاطي الذهب والفضة، ومن أن تلقوا عدوكم غدا فتضربوا أعناقهم، ويضربوا أعناقكم ". قالوا: بلى. يا رسول الله. قال: " ذكر الله " . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
