Hadith 961:98
Mu'awiyah ibn 'Amr and Harun ibn Ma'ruf narrated to us, they said: 'Abdullah ibn Wahb narrated to us. Harun said in his narration: He said. And Haywah narrated from Ibn Abi Habib. Mu'awiyah said: From Haywah, from Yazid, from Salamah ibn Usamah, from Yahya ibn al-Hakam, that Mu'adh said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, sent me to collect the alms (zakat) from the people of Yemen, and he commanded me to take from every thirty cows a *tabi'* (a one-year-old calf). Harun said: And the *tabi'* is a *jadha'* or a *jadha'ah*. And from every forty, a *musinnah* (a two-year-old cow). He said: They offered me to take from the forty—Harun said: between the forty and the fifty, and between the sixty and the seventy, and between the eighty and the ninety—but I refused that and said to them: "Until I ask the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, about that." So I arrived and informed the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. He commanded me to take from every thirty a *tabi'*, and from every forty a *musinnah*, and from sixty two *tabi's*, and from seventy a *musinnah* and a *tabi'*, and from eighty two *musinnahs*, and from ninety three *tabi's*, and from one hundred a *musinnah* and two *tabi's*, and from one hundred and ten two *musinnahs* and a *tabi'*, and from one hundred and twenty three *musinnahs* or four *tabi's*. He said: And the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, commanded me not to take anything in between that—Harun said: anything in between that—unless it reaches a *musinnah* or a *jadha'*. And he claimed that the *awqas* (the amounts between the obligatory thresholds) have no obligatory charity in them.
حدثنا معاوية بن عمرو ، وهارون بن معروف قالا: حدثنا عبد الله بن وهب وقال هارون في حديثه: قال. وقال حيوة، عن ابن أبي حبيب وقال: معاوية، عن حيوة، عن يزيد، عن سلمة بن أسامة، عن يحيى بن الحكم، أن معاذا قال: بعثني رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أصدق أهل اليمن وأمرني أن آخذ من البقر من كل ثلاثين تبيعا. قال هارون: والتبيع: الجذع أو الجذعة، ومن كل أربعين مسنة قال: فعرضوا علي أن آخذ من الأربعين، قال: هارون ما بين الأربعين، والخمسين وبين الستين والسبعين، وما بين الثمانين والتسعين فأبيت ذاك، وقلت لهم حتى أسأل رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عن ذلك فقدمت، فأخبرت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، " فأمرني أن آخذ من كل ثلاثين تبيعا، ومن كل أربعين مسنة، ومن الستين تبيعين، ومن السبعين مسنة وتبيعا، ومن الثمانين مسنتين، ومن التسعين ثلاثة أتباع، ومن المائة مسنة وتبيعين، ومن العشرة والمائة مسنتين وتبيعا، ومن العشرين ومائة ثلاث مسنات أو أربعة أتباع. قال: وأمرني رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أن لا آخذ فيما بين ذلك، وقال هارون: فيما بين ذلك شيئا، إلا أن يبلغ مسنة أو جذعا وزعم أن الأوقاص لا فريضة فيها "
