Hadith 961:99
Abu Sa’id, the freed slave of Banu Hashim, narrated to us, Thabit ibn Yazid narrated to us, ‘Asim narrated to us, from Abu Munib al-Ahdab, who said: Mu’adh delivered a sermon in Ash-Sham, and he mentioned the plague, saying: "It is a mercy from your Lord, the supplication of your Prophet, and the taking of the righteous before you. O Allah, grant the family of Mu’adh their share of this mercy." Then he descended from his place, and he entered upon ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Mu’adh. ‘Abd al-Rahman said: "The truth is from your Lord, so do not be among the doubters." Mu’adh said: "You will find me, if Allah wills, among the patient."
حدثنا أبو سعيد مولى بني هاشم، حدثنا ثابت بن يزيد، حدثنا عاصم، عن أبي منيب الأحدب قال: خطب معاذ بالشام، فذكر الطاعون فقال: " إنها رحمة ربكم ودعوة نبيكم، وقبض الصالحين قبلكم. اللهم أدخل على آل معاذ نصيبهم من هذه الرحمة ". ثم نزل من مقامه ذلك، فدخل على عبد الرحمن بن معاذ فقال: عبد الرحمن: {الحق من ربك فلا تكونن من الممترين} [البقرة: 147] ، فقال معاذ: {ستجدني إن شاء الله من الصابرين} [الصافات: 102] "
