Musnad Ahmad 435:107

Hashim narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from 'Amr ibn Murrah, who said: I heard Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib saying: Mu'awiyah ibn Abi Sufyan came to Medina, and it was the last arrival he made. He brought out a bundle of hair and said: "I did not think that anyone would do this except the Jews, and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) named it 'the forgery' (al-zur)." He said: It is as if he meant the hairpiece (al-wisal).
