'Ali ibn Ishaq narrated to us, 'Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak informed us, he said: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Yazid ibn Jabir informed us, he said: Abu 'Abd Rabbihi narrated to me, he said: I heard Mu'awiyah saying upon this pulpit: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, saying: "Indeed, what remains of the world is trial and tribulation. And the likeness of the deed of one of you is only like a vessel; if its top is good, its bottom is good, and if its top is corrupt, its bottom is corrupt."
