Musnad Ahmad 435:38

'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from Humayd ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, that he saw Mu'awiyah delivering a sermon upon the pulpit, and in his hand was a tuft of hair. He said: I heard him saying, "Where are your scholars, O people of Medina? I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, forbidding the likes of this." And he said: "The Children of Israel were only punished when their women adopted this."
