Musnad Ahmad 435:7

'Affan narrated to us, he said: Hammad—meaning Ibn Salamah—narrated to us, he said: Jabalah ibn 'Atiyyah informed us, from 'Abdullah ibn Muhayriz, from Mu'awiyah ibn Abi Sufyan, that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "If Allah intends good for a servant, He grants him understanding of the religion."
