Musnad Ahmad 1086:6

Sufyan narrated to us, he said: And Al-Zuhri heard it from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib and Haram ibn Sa'd ibn Muhayyisah: That a she-camel belonging to Al-Bara' ibn 'Azib entered the garden of some people and caused damage. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, decreed: "The protection of properties is upon their owners during the day, and whatever the livestock cause [of damage] during the night is upon their owners."
