Hadith 823:2
Abu Usamah narrated to us, he said: Kahmas informed us, Abdullah ibn Shaqiq narrated to us, Harmi ibn al-Harith and Usamah ibn Khuraym narrated to us—and they were both engaged in military expeditions—and they narrated a hadith to me, and neither of them was aware that his companion had narrated it to me, from Murrah al-Bahzi, who said: While we were with the Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, on one of the roads of Medina, he said: "How will it be during a tribulation that surges in the regions of the earth as if it were the horns of cattle?" They said: "What shall we do, O Prophet of Allah?" He said: "You must follow this and his companions," or "Follow this and his companions." He said: So I hurried until I turned toward the man and said: "This, O Prophet of Allah?" He said: "This." And behold, it was Uthman ibn Affan.
حدثنا أبو أسامة، قال: أخبرنا كهمس، حدثنا عبد الله بن شقيق، حدثنا هرمي بن الحارث، وأسامة بن خريم، وكانا يغازيان، فحدثاني حديثا، ولا يشعر كل واحد منهما أن صاحبه حدثنيه، عن مرة البهزي، قال: بينما نحن مع نبي الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في طريق من طرق المدينة، فقال: " كيف في فتنة تثور في أقطار الأرض كأنها صياصي بقر؟ " قالوا: نصنع ماذا يا نبي الله؟ قال: " عليكم هذا وأصحابه " أو " اتبعوا هذا وأصحابه "، قال: فأسرعت حتى عطفت على الرجل، فقلت: هذا يا نبي الله، قال: " هذا "، فإذا هو عثمان بن عفان
