Narrated to us by Muhammad ibn Ja’far, who said: Narrated to us Shu’bah, from Qatadah, who said: I heard Mutarrif ibn ‘Abdullah narrating from his father, who said: I came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) while he was reciting: "The mutual rivalry for piling up (the things of this world) diverts you," (Surah At-Takathur: 1). He said: The son of Adam says: "My wealth, my wealth." And do you have, O son of Adam, from your wealth except what you ate and consumed, or what you wore and wore out, or what you gave as charity and sent ahead?
